St. Peter’s Church of England VA School has confirmed a student has tested positive for Covid-19.

We have been informed that a Year 11 student received a positive test result on Monday 9th November and has stayed at home.

In line with the risk assessment and guidance from Public Health England the school quickly identified those who may have been in contact with the student.  As with the previous two positive cases we have worked with Public Health England, sharing information as required in order to act with integrity, keep everyone as safe as possible and maximise onsite learning opportunities.

Those Parents and Carers of Year 11 and the users of the 971 Bus Service who PHE and ourselves believe have had close contact with the student have been informed and the 92 students have been told to self-isolate until Saturday 21st November.

Headteacher Phil Randall said: "As a school with 1300 students we have been on high alert for symptoms of Coronavirus and strictly adhering to Government guidelines around hand washing, social distancing and year group bubbles.”

“We have been able to identify students and staff who have come into contact with the student.  We are grateful to the family of the student who has tested positive for the information they have provided, enabling us to self-isolate a smaller number of students.”

"The students that are self-isolating will now be able to access our Google Classroom learning, and follow their normal timetable.  Students are well equipped and very familiar with this platform and teachers are already preparing and setting work.”

"We will be monitoring the situation closely."
