St Peter’s C of E aided School Pupil Premium
Pupil premium – a guide for parents and carers
If your child gets free school meals (FSM), or has been eligible for FSM at any point in the past six years then they will qualify as a pupil premium student. We are awarded £900 per year for each qualifying student. This additional pupil premium funding is to help close the attainment gap between students who are from families eligible for FSM and those students who are not. Research has shown that pupil premium children are less likely to achieve as other children in our society. Children who are in local authority care and whose parents are in the armed services also qualify for additional funding to enable them to meet their learning potential.
A proportion of the funding is used to support a range of interventions to help students improve. Departments are able to bid for extra funding to support additional activities to help pupil premium students make progress. We can also consider contributing funding to support curricular activities for pupil premium students.
