Dear Parents,

School uniform from September 2017

The changes to the school uniform which were introduced in September 2016 have now been in place for almost a year and in that time we have received a great deal of very positive feedback from parents, students, staff and visitors alike.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the uniform requirements. All items of uniform are available from our local uniform supplier Thomas Moore, in Exeter but may also be available from other retailers or on-line. However, if you do use retailers other than Thomas Moore please ensure that your purchases fully comply with our uniform requirements, as exchanging purchases may be more difficult or time consuming.

The uniform requirements outlined below apply to all students in Years 7-11

from 1st September 2017:

The uniform for girls:

  • St Peter’s white ¾ sleeved Rever-collar blouse with school badge.
  • St Peter’s navy blue V-necked jumper or cardigan with school badge.
  • Either: Trutex Low Moor Snr Tartan Kilt (worn at knee length)

Or Trutex GTB (Girls Black Trouser)

Or Banner Hadley (Girls Black Trouser)

  • Low heeled plain black leather shoes (heels no more than 3 cms above the top of the sole). Canvas shoes, boots, trainers and backless shoes are not permitted and must not be worn to and from school.
  • Navy, black or white short socks, or plain navy or black tights. (Leggings are not acceptable)

The uniform for boys:

  • St Peter’s white short sleeved shirt with school badge and St Peter’s blue and red striped clip-on school tie
  • St Peter’s navy blue V-necked jumper or cardigan with school badge.
  • Either : Trutex style TFF (Boys Black Flat Front Plain Trouser)

Or Trutex style TVT (Boys Black Jet Pocket Trouser)

Or Black tailored school shorts (with no outside pockets or cargo-style pockets)

  • Low heeled plain black leather shoes. Canvas shoes, boots and trainers are not permitted and must not be worn to and from school.
  • Navy, black or white socks.

Expectations for all students:

  • Outdoor clothing, coats, scarves, hats etc. should not be worn indoors after 8.30 am and should be kept in bags or lockers during the school day.
  • Hoodies and non-uniform jumpers may not be worn in school at any time.
  • Hair should be kept neat and tidy and of one reasonable length, style and must be of one natural colour. (Shaved heads, stencilled, or spiked hair are not acceptable.) No hair should be shorter than a number 2 cut.
  • Make-up, including nail varnish, should not be worn in school.
  • No jewellery should be worn apart from a watch and not more than one plain gold or silver stud in each earlobe, no other piercings are permitted.
  • Only thin plain black belts with discreet buckles may be worn.
  • No garment should be visible underneath the school shirt or blouse.
  • Bring your belongings in a bag which is large enough to hold an A4-type folder – smaller bags and handbags are not permitted.

There are one or two aspects of the school uniform requirements which are not always fully complied with by all students. Please support the school by making sure that your child wears the correct uniform.

In particular ensure that:

  • Girl’s skirts are of the correct length when they are purchased. They should be worn at knee length. We will ask you to buy another skirt of the correct length if your child arrives at school wearing a shorter skirt and we would rather you avoided the expense of purchasing items that don’t comply with our uniform requirements.
  • Boy’s and girl’s trousers are of the correct style when they are bought. We will ask you to buy another pair of trousers if your child wears non-uniform styles, including trousers which are too “skinny” or black jeans.
  • Low heeled plain black leather shoes are worn to school. Canvas shoes, boots and trainers are not permitted. We will ask you to buy another pair of school shoes if your child comes to school in canvas shoes, boots or trainers.
  • Your child has an appropriate school bag – which is NOT a hand bag. We will ask you to buy a different school bag, if your child brings a hand bag to school.
  • Your child wears the correct colour socks – white socks are NOT part of the school uniform.
  • Girl’s skirts are not rolled over at the top. This will result in an automatic Red Card Detention.
  • Boy’s shirts are not worn untucked. This will result in an automatic Red Card Detention.
  • Your child does not wear a hoodie or non-uniform jumper to school. This will result in an automatic Red Card Detention.

Yours faithfully,

Andrew Hubbard

Assistant Headteacher
