St Peter’s Book Day

8 March 2018

St Peter’s celebrated a belated World Book Day today.  The English department dressed up as characters from ‘Where’s Wally?’ and the library was full at lunch time with students claiming their free WBD books.  Winstones, an independent book seller from Sidmouth, had a pop up shop in the library so that students could also purchase books.

Ms McDowall and Ms Nolan were impressed with the high standard of entries in the ‘dress a potato as a literary character’ competition.  The winner of the competition was Rhiannon Timmis from 9MEP with her amazing character from ‘The Hobbit’.  Rhiannon will win a £10 book token.  Keisha McGregor 7GEP came second and Jacob Carter 7KLC came third.  Both students will receive a £5 book token.  Miss Pragnell won the staff prize with her ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ potato.  The following students will receive commendations for their brillaint potatoes: Ellie Bodey (Ratburger), Abigail Landon (Mr Bump), Hamish Harris (The Hungry Caterpillar), Zoe Garner (Robin Hood) and Harry Matthews, Phoebe Beer, Nelly Baines and Chloe Day (Harry Potter characters).
