Year 8 Artist has Stamp Competition Success

Last year all year 8 Art students took part in the Royal Mail Stamp Design Competition to thanks the heroes of the Coronavirus outbreak.

The art department is delighted to report that Lolly from St Peter’s has reached the Final 120 (Regional Finalist) stage of the Heroes Stamp Design Competition.

An incredible 606,049 entries were received from children across the UK, with an amazing 7,479 schools taking part. Congratulations to all the children who entered, as their designs contributed towards a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the largest postage stamp design competition.

It is therefore a great achievement to reach the Final 120 stage, so many congratulations to Lolly! You can view the 120 entries on the competition website. Lolly’s entry can be found under the South West region entries. From the 120 regional finalists, a special panel of judges will now determine the winning 24 regional designs and these will be announced in November. Then, from these 24 entries, eight winning images will be chosen as official Royal Mail stamps, which will be signed off by Her Majesty The Queen herself. They will then appear on millions of items of mail across the UK when they are issued in the Spring of 2022.

Entrants/families of the 120 finalists and their schools are guaranteed a £100 prize. This could increase if Lolly gets into the final 16 or 8 selection. The art department hopes to spend this on art materials which all our art students can benefit from.
