HOLLAND CYCLING EXPEDITION
Students enjoy an active, fun-packed cycling tour around beautiful Holland. This eight day residential provides a perfect opportunity to experience life on the open road in a country that was simply designed for cyclists. Students cruise along the flat, safe cycle tracks and take in the unique rural scenery before setting up camp for the night and cooking their own scrumptious meal under the stars.
After loading the bikes into a van at St Peter’s, the group sets off by train to Harwich via London. Once reunited with the bikes at the port, it’s an overnight ferry to arrive at the Hook of Holland. There is then a stunning cycle along the beautiful coastal cycle path to Duinrell. Duinrell is one of Europe’s leading water theme parks and where the students spend the evening cooling off and chilling out in the indoor water complex before hitting the cycle tracks for a week of action and adventure.
The expedition takes the students on woodland and riverside tracks deep into the Dutch countryside, to the furthest part of the trip, where there is a rest day at “Walibi World” Europe’s largest roller coaster theme park.
The students are totally self-sufficient, carrying all equipment on back of their bikes (tent, sleeping bag, clothes, food etc). The camp sites used along the way have excellent facilities including sports fields, games rooms, snack bars and often swimming pools/lakes – a perfect way to cool off after a day in the saddle.
