CCF – The first Ten Tors walk

It was a glorious day with a chilly wind. We walked roughly 13Km from just North of Princetown past Yellowmeade Farm and Foggintor Quarries into Princetown. We then continued South to Nun’s Cross for a spot of lunch outside Nun’s Cross Farm that was once owned by the school when it was known as Hele’s School (re:photo1). We then walked though some old tin workings at Eylesbarrow Tin Mines to Ditsworthy Warren house (ref:photo2) where we saw the building (Warren House) used in the opening scenes of the film “War Horse”. We were then treated to a extremely large chocolate cake to celebrate Joshua’s Birthday. We all had an very pleasant day on the moor as well as enjoying the fabulous weather we introduced navigational skills including map orientation, pacing and timing.
