Exeter City 6-a-side cup

7 December 2018

Thirteen year 7 and 8 students travelled to Exeter University to take part in the Exeter City 6-a-side cup. St Peter’s entered two teams into this tournament, these joined the other 13 teams representing schools from Exeter and the surrounding mid/East Devon area.

Both teams got off to excellent starts with strong wins against St Luke’s, 9-0 and 3-0 respectively. These were followed by three further wins for each team, meaning they were both group winners. As such both teams progressed to the knockout rounds, luckily avoiding each other in the quarter finals. Following close QF matches, St Peter’s A and B emerged victorious and then faced each other in the semi-final; St Peter’s A winning a close contest. This turned out to be the only defeat of the day for St Peter’s B, who won their 3rd place playoff comfortably. In the final, St Peter’s A faced well organised opposition but were able to score the necessary goals to win the contest 3-0. As such, St Peter’s A qualify for the regional finals, held in Newport on Thursday 10th January.

Both teams represented St Peter’s exceptionally well all day, both from a sporting and conduct perspective. Well done all!
