International Women in Engineering Day
International Women in Engineering Day is an international awareness campaign to raise the profile of women in engineering and focus attention on the amazing career opportunities available to girls in this exciting industry. It celebrates the outstanding achievements of women engineers throughout the world. St Peter’s C of E Aided School were chosen by Jacobs Engineering to take part in this event on Thursday 4th July. Jacobs is promoting science, technology, engineering and math education and the building of strong communities for a more connected, sustainable world for future generations. The four teams of girls had to plan a new cycle route through a new development of 100 homes being built on the south side and residents living there will need to access employment opportunities and services on the north side. They had to incorporate existing cycle routes and ensure that it was a safer and easier route to use. Well done to Zoe, Olivia, Ailie, Daisy, Rebecca, Abigail, Liticia, Lottie, Samantha, Zoe, Marissa, Gabs, Ruby and Louisa – they were a credit to themselves and the school.
