Postponed Student Webinar – 12th November

Postponed Student Webinar – 12th November

Dear Parents,

It is with regret that I have just received notice that the student Webinar on Elizabethan England has been postponed by KeyNote educational from the 12th November to the 30th April! This is extremely frustrating but we recognise that being closer to the actual Elizabethan exam can only be a positive experience for students. Therefore, if students have handed in their slip and payment we will transfer them over to the new date. Additionally, if you have yet to return slips and would like to be added to the future course please do return the below form. We will give plenty of warning prior to the new date to remind students.

I attach the letter below as a reminder of the contents of the session.

Kind Regards

Mrs Wilkinson (SLL History)

Student Webinar

The History department would like to offer the opportunity to attend a student revision webinar run by keynote educational. This session will happen after school from 4.00-5.00pm on the 30th April 2020. We are asking for a £1 donation to help part fund the session and ask that students who decide to attend stay for the whole session so as not to disturb others who wish to partake in the event. The session is focused on year 9 topics which will be examined in the summer of 2020 and has a separate focus on the Spanish Armada which is part of the site study for 2020 and worth 10% of the final History grade.

If students would like to attend please bring the slip to Mrs Wilkinson in H61 and their name will be added to the list. Please note that the planned revision session on the 28th Nov on the topic: The Spanish Armada – site study, will no longer run as it will be covered by the webinar.  The Structure of the session is as follows:
Governing Elizabethan England

  • Interpreting the problem of marriage and succession
  • Explaining Parliament, the Royal Court and the Privy Council-why were they so important?
  • ‘The Only Way is Essex’- how did Elizabeth react to this troublemaker?
  • Using your great knowledge to please the examiner-how to get those high grades?
Building up to the Spanish Armada
  • Golden Age interpretations-how ‘convincing’ are they?
  • Explaining the importance of Catholic plots and rebellions
  • The origins of the conflict with Spain-can you write an account?
  • Understanding the impact of Elizabeth’s religious changes – how did the Puritans react?
  • The Spanish Armada – what might you expect on the final exam paper?

Yours faithfully
