St Peter’s achieves best ever results!

The students of St Peter’s Church of England Aided School have achieved their best ever exam results with 83% of students achieving five or more A*- C GCSE passes and 77% of students achieving five or more A* – C including English and Mathematics.  This is a significant increase of 8% from 2014.  The percentage of students achieving five or more A*/A grades has improved by an outstanding 11% with twenty seven students achieving 10 or more A*/A grades.  The school is particularly proud that students of all abilities have made their best ever progress.  The attainment for disadvantaged students across their five A* – C grades including English and Mathematics has improved by a significant 30%.

An impressive 92% of students achieving A *- C in English Literature and 88% achieving A* –  C in English Language.  Students exceeded their targets in Mathematics with 83% achieving A* – C.  Science continues to be a strength at St Peter’s with 96% of students achieving A*- C across the triple Sciences of Physics and Biology with 89% A* – C in Chemistry.  History A*/A grades are an impressive 39%, with 79% achieving A* – C.  These are particularly significant achievements given the number of GCSE’s that this year group have completed, including early entry in Year 9 for a Language GCSE and the many national changes that staff and students have had to contend with.

Headteacher, Rachel Hutchinson said, “I am delighted by the progress made in the last year, especially with the range of subjects at St Peter’s exceeding national targets.  These are likely to be amongst the best result at state schools nationally at least equal to outstanding schools across the country.  Fantastic successes in core subjects and other subjects such as Drama with 96% achieving A* – C and an impressive 61% achieving A*/A, Dance 100% A* – C with 67% A*/A and Resistant Materials with 90% A* – C. with 35% A*/A.  This really does reflect the relentless commitment of our staff who work closely in partnership with our students, parents and governors .”GCSE Results August 20th 2015 03
