The Brilliant Club – Launch Day
The Brilliant Club – Launch Day – 9 January 2019
Yesterday twelve year 9 students attended Exeter University with Mr Woolnough and Mrs Clinch for the launch of The Brilliant Club as part of the Scholars Programme run through the University. The programme gives students a chance to explore a new subject that is completely different from the work usually studied in school. The programme aims to give students an experience of university learning and to help make an informed decision about their future.
As part of the programme the students were given a tour of the campus and met with their tutor who is a PhD student as well as attending a seminar on study skills in a lecture theatre. The students will be completing a 2500 word assignment around the topic of ‘Political Science’ and attended their first tutorial with Nick Dickinson their course tutor. Nick will follow this up with four weekly hour long in school tutorials with the students to teach them about our political system and help them decide on their project. He will also provide additional advice and guidance through a virtual learning environment they now have access too. Once the project is completed the students will attend a graduation ceremony at Bristol University.
