March 22nd, Year 11 Newsletter
I would like to start my bulletin this week by saying a huge congratulations to Katy who has been selected to represent Great Britain in the Junior Women’s U20s Ultimate Frisbee squad in the Junior European Tournament taking place in Poland this summer. What a huge achievement particularly as she was actually trialling for the U17 squad.
Lots of our year 11s have been busy preparing for their Art and Photography GCSE exams that will be taking place in the next two weeks. Thank you to Mrs Crocker and Mrs Littlejohn for all the time they have given up to support our students with this and I hope their exams go well.
I hope that those students and parents that joined us for the anxiety and stress management workshop went away with a few helpful and practical tips to use (I certainly did) and that they are sticking to their assigned challenge! I will be sharing some of the messages with tutors so that they can encourage their tutees to be “happy, healthy and strong” now and in their futures.
Just a reminder that if they haven’t already done so, students need to complete a hoodie order form and return it to the finance office with a payment of £17, cash or cheque (made to Devon County) no later than Friday 29th March.
Please help us improve your child’s attendance record; on your child’s last report, you will see their attendance figure and the number of authorised and unauthorised absences. Our attendance officer can’t authorise absences unless she has valid reasons for them (and in some cases this needs to be medical evidence such as a medical appointment card). If your child does have reasons for unauthorised absences please contact Mrs Walker our attendance officer so that she can authorise them.
Over the next few weeks your child will be getting important information about the year 11 clearing process, examinations, study leave, leavers barbecue and prom. All this information will be put onto the school website so please be sure to check this regularly.
