YEAR 8 RHINELAND RESIDENTIAL

Dear Parent/Carer,

For a number of years, we have offered our Year 8 students the opportunity to visit the Rhineland of Germany.  This is not a language trip, but a cultural experience.

The outline details for the visits are as follows:-

Dates: Monday 15th July – Friday 19th July 2019

Centre: We will be staying at the Youth Hostel Bad Honnef

Travel: Overland travel is by executive coach – reclining seats, toilet/washroom, air conditioning, DVD player etc. We will travel via ferry from Dover to Calais.

Programme: Based on previous years this would be as follows:-

Monday 15th July                              Travel by coach from St. Peter’s to Bad Honnef

Tuesday 16th July                              A day in Cologne, visiting the cathedral, the chocolate museum and the sports museum

Wednesday 17th July                       A day visiting the towns of the Rhine and a boat trip

Thursday 18th July                           A day in the theme park of Phantasialand

Friday 19th July                                   Return journey to St. Peter’s

Cost: £400 per person. This is an inclusive price for all travel, board & accommodation, all group visits, insurance, & gratuities. The only “extra” is personal spending money for souvenirs/snacks and money for food on the journey.

Booking: Please read this section carefully

All students participating on the trip will require their own EHIC card.

Places cannot be awarded on a “first come first served basis”. In the event that more students apply for places than are available, then the names of all students who have applied by the published deadline will be put into a ballot and names picked at random.

Please return your deposits and the booking form below to the finance office BY WEDNESDAY 3rd OCTOBER 2018. Booking forms must not be given to Form Tutors or any other members of staff. If your child is successful in gaining a place, I will let them know shortly after the deadline.

Meetings:

There will be a meeting for all participants and parents in the Summer Term. All letters and information will be available for you to view/download on the school website.
