“We all benefit by having young people exposed to the ‘way things are done’ in a democratic society. Isn’t it time… to ‘tap the power of youth’?”
At St Peter’s we have a committee where students can share their opinions about the school to help improve subjects. We call this Student View.
Student View includes pupils from all year groups who represent the student body. We have been working alongside teachers, offering and sharing the opinions of students in order to have an impact on the teaching and learning at St Peter’s. The goal is to ensure that there aren’t any missed opportunities and to find out what students would like to see more of in lessons as well as their opinion on what helps them learn best in the classroom.
We (Student View) have been working very hard this term with the Music department and exploring how we can promote the subject so people find it more enjoyable and interesting to learn as well as making clubs more accessible. Another thing we have been doing this term, is looking into tutor times across the school and how they vary. We have been finding out how they could be improved. Research and findings are then gathered from the students in the form of surveys before being compiled into a report and being given back to the department.
We are now starting to focus on improving feedback across all subjects and how it can be made efficient. We are looking at all aspects of feedback including WWW’s, EBI’s, verbal lesson feedback as well as several other things.
