Monday 28th January
Week beginning 28th January
During this coming week, Key Stage assemblies will be taken by two of our Hon.Chaplains, Rev James Grier and Jon Hancock. They will be continuing our theme of WISDOM in the Foolproof series and will be helping us think about parables in Luke 14 & 19.
On Sunday (27th January) it was Holocaust Memorial Day. HMD was created to remember the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, the millions of people killed under Nazi Persecution and in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur. The 27th January marked the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp.
During the week beginning 4th February, a group of students assisted by Mr Burnham will be helping us in our KS assemblies learn and remember about the Holocaust and in this coming week we will use QT time to do some further thinking.
In the QT we will look at Sir Nicholas Winton who helped hundreds of children make extraordinary journeys to freedom during WW2. The video shows a heart-warming moment when Sir Nicholas met some of the survivors he helped. You can find the reflection and video here:
Lord, help us to never look down on others or make anyone feel inferior. Show us how to remove any prejudices so that we may appreciate individuals for who they are. As we remember the Holocaust may we learn from the past. Inspire us to live in a way that promotes peace, acceptance and care for all in our world. Amen
God bless and have a good week!
