Dear Students, Parents and Carers

Moving to On-line Learning – Wednesday 24th June and Thursday 25th June

Further to my recent communications regarding the hot weather we are experiencing I have an update to share, following monitoring and feedback of our current provision.

  1. The weather forecast indicates that temperatures will be elevated even higher this Wednesday and Thursday.
  2. Despite the range of adaptations we have made, large areas of the school buildings are unfit for the kinds of unusually extreme hot temperatures we have experienced so far this week.
  3. In the interests of safety and creating the best possible learning conditions we have decided to move to online learning on Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th June.
  4. If your child is in receipt of free school meals, they or yourselves will be welcome to collect these onsite by coming to reception between 12.30pm – 2.00pm on both days.
  5. I anticipate that the school will be open to students on Friday 26th June with adapted clothing as per this week.

We anticipate, with lower temperatures having the school building open again as usual on Friday 26th June but with adapted uniform as previously outlined.

Students should log on to Google Classroom following their normal timetable, where they should join the Google Meet for that class using the Join button displayed in the Classroom.

1.               Live check in / register, followed by explanation of the tasks and where to find the resources.
2.               Remote learning from resources directed by the teacher (see examples below)
3.               A task or series of tasks to complete based on the information provided.

•                  Google Classroom
•                  Live Google Meet tutorials
•                  Live Google Meet lessons
•                  Pre recorded lessons by St Peter’s staff
•                  Online resources (e.g. Sparx Maths, Seneca, Thisislanguage…)
•                  printed paper packs produced by teachers (e.g. workbooks, worksheets)
•                  textbooks and reading books students have at home
•                  commercially available websites supporting the teaching of specific subjects or areas, including video clips or sequences

We ask that parents remove any devices during learning hours that are not directly being used to support the lesson / learning. Mobile phones should ideally be switched off and away from the workstation.
