STEM Beyond Boundaries

News - 14th Jul 2021

Thank you to Exeter University for hosting STEM beyond boundaries sessions for our Year 9 & 10 girls over the last two weeks.

Due to current covid restrictions we weren’t able to visit the University in person so joined in using zoom calls.

The session included discussion of what it is like to study STEM subjects at university and some female university students shared the STEM projects that they are currently working on including using enzymes to break down microplastics and engineering on the Thames Tideway project.

The session also included a STEM quiz and introduction to Growth mindset and how using this can help students to progress to achieve anything they want.

We’re now hoping to be able to visit the STEM departments at the University properly next year once covid restrictions are fully lifted.
