Our First Walk of Many in 2026
On 10 January, we returned to a distinctly frosty Dartmoor for our first walk of 2026. We arrived on a wonderfully tranquil and still moor, setting the scene for an excellent day outdoors.
Our route took us south of Princetown before heading west to Crazy Well Pool, where the temperature was considerably lower than any temptation to swim. From there, we travelled north to Cramber Tor, then continued west across Black, Leeden and Ingra Tors, before completing the circuit by heading east back to Princetown along the old railway path.
In total, the walk covered approximately 17.5 kilometres with around 400 metres of ascent, making for a challenging and rewarding clockwise route. It was an ideal distance to begin preparing for the training ahead, which will steadily increase in difficulty with longer distances, greater elevation gains and heavier backpacks.
Once again, well done to everyone involved for a fantastic day’s effort and a strong start to the year.
